- Chess helps young adults with special needs learn life lessons:
NEW LENOX — To most people passing by, it may seem like just an ordinary game of chess. Yet, to these students, it is much more than just black and white. A few months ago, students from Bridgepoint Academy were at the New Lenox Public Library when a small group of retired men met for an informal chess club. The students asked to play. “We’ve been going ever since,” said their teacher, Amanda Price. The students look like other young adults. What makes this story compelling is that Bridgepoint is a transition school for people ages 16-21 who have special needs. Read further here.
