Hi Everyone,
Here’s more news from the quaintly-named Snowdrops versus Veterans Coal Chess Match being held in Marianske Lazne in Czechoslovakia.
As tradition goes, once a year, a team of female chess players faces a team of chess legends of the 20th century. They are represented by Portisch, Hort, Velimirovic and Uhlman, while the ladies are Humpy, Cmilyte, Caoili and Olsarova. The two teams were tied after two rounds but the Veterans lost the third.
By the way, ‘Snowdrops’ refers to winter blossom Galanthus that flowers between January and April and heralds the coming of Spring and not snowflakes!
